Member Spotlight: GreenTech Distribution

An interview with Matt Edwards

Matt thank you so much for taking the time to chat to us. Firstly, for those of us who don’t know, could you tell us a bit about you and what your role at GreenTech Distribution entails?

GreenTech Distribution is a leading distributor of mobile phones and consumer electronics based just outside of London. My role within the business is Business Development, this covers both purchasing and sales enabling me to keep abreast of market conditions from both sides of the business.

GreenTech Distribution has positioned itself as a ‘hybrid’ distributor of mobile phones and related products – could you explain what this entails?

We have developed over the last 15 years a wide range of supply partners worldwide, although our initial focus was mobile phones demand from our extensive customer base has allowed us to diversify significantly into other consumer electronics. We now offer a wide portfolio of products including mobile phones, tablets, games consoles, gaming accessories and much, much more.

The 19th annual Sunday Times Virgin FastTrack 100 league found that GreenTech Distribution PLC to be Britain’s fastest-growing private company of 2015. That’s a pretty exciting benchmark, to what do you attribute your success?

The drive and determination of each and every individual within the business have enabled us to take the business from strength year on year. We have a very tight-knit team and the majority of people have been part of the business for over 10 years.

We’ve reached the end of another challenging year, between Brexit and Covid 19 it has been a year of adapting to change. What are some of the toughest challenges you’ve faced as a company and what strategies have you implemented to overcome them?

We are a very agile business with a very ‘to-do’ attitude within all areas of the group and whilst the last couple of years have had their challenges we seem to have come out of each situation stronger!

You’ve been members of IPT for many years now and we’ve seen a lot of changes in the industry together, how would you say being a member of IPT has helped drive your business?

Being a member of IPT for me has two main benefits. The first is the organised events that IPT have invited us to, this gives us an opportunity to meet pre-vetted industry partners with who we can feel comfortable working with immediately. The second is the ongoing support we receive, we know Ed and his team are at the end of the phone should we need to verify a supplier/customer or require some advice in locating or selling a particular product.

It’s always such a pleasure to have you and members of your team join us at ITC! What is it that keeps you coming back to ITC and why would you recommend other companies in the industry to attend?

ITC for me is a fantastic event! It offers, members of our team and me a chance to meet many of our existing suppliers and customers in a relaxed environment without the pressure of having to travel to many locations over a long period!
